The British
Columbia Atlas of Child Development charts new territory about the
geography of opportunity for young children in Canada. The Atlas presents
a visual summary of early child development trends across neighbourhood,
school district and provincial geographies in BC.
Colour maps
depict information about the many intersecting environments in which
BC families live and young children grow, including the socioeconomic,
community and policy environments.
The Atlas thus
invites readers to contemplate a broad understanding of early development
that transcends the boundaries of any single policy envelope - such
as education, health, child care, welfare, or justice - to see how the
interrelations between all of these areas influence children before
they reach age six.
